where can i find a mac startup disk?

i got a mac at an auction with the hard drive cleared and no startup disk. i believe it was running on OS. does any one know were i can get a startup disk for free or cheap?

Answer:

Free or cheap, no. Not unless it is an old Mac from about 10 years ago. If it is an iMac or iBook, etc., you'll need to get a MacOS 9 or X disk. Check eBay. If it's 10 years old and tan or gray, you can download MacOs 7.5.5. from their support website free.
