Frequently Asked Questions...
Has anybody used Larsen Violin Strings? I need your comments and feedbacks about the Larsen Violin Strings.?
I hope you can share with me your observations on Larsen Violin Strings (regular), not the Tzigane. A lot of my friends say they are among the "best" they have tried. They are mostly Dominant users.
I have experimented with quite a few like Corelli Alliance Vivace, Pirastro Wondertone and Obligato, Infeld Blue and Warchal Brilliant on the same violin. So far the Corelli strings and Obligatos have the best match for my violin in terms of tone. Infact, I would never go back to dominants after having discovered the Alliance Vivace and Obligato. Second would be the Warchal Brilliant but they are too loud for everyday practice and rehearsals.
Answer:
Just keep in mind that strings which sound good on somebody else's violin may not sound very good on your violin.
The strings have to be matched to the instrument ; each violin is different. I have heard violins that sounded lousy with Dominants but sounded great with Corellis.
You have to experimant a bit.....yes, I know it can be expensive !
